A conference on “Palliative Care” was conducted at the Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) on May 24, 2017. Renowned palliative specialists from the United States came to participate in the conference.
Palliative doctors from the States and Armenia discussed issues related to palliative care. Dr. Garo Harmandayan from Cedars Sinai Medical Center did presentations on the following topics: “Principles in palliative care,” “Pain management,” and “Modern approaches in opioid use.” Linn Keitz, a consultant for different hospices in California, presented “Palliative care at home.” At the same time, Arpi Kestenian, the head of the Hospice of Grace, shared her experience in hospital management. Several other questions have been discussed with the Armenian physicians regarding the development of palliative care in medicine.
The conference was organized by the YSMU in collaboration with the Association of Hematology and Oncology and the Armenian Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Group.
