Immunization Guide for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders (PDF)

Today, vaccination is considered the most efficient method of infectious disease prevention. Pediatric cancer patients are more vulnerable to infectious disease acquisition and disease-related complications. Moreover, the majority of cancer patients receive chemotherapy as part of their treatment. That impacts their immune system and decreases the effectiveness of previously received vaccines. Thus, it is important to consider revaccination among this population. However, taking into consideration the overall immune status of these children, it is important to follow a special vaccination schedule.
In 2020, in Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, Hematology Center after Professor R. H. Yeolyan, a novel immunization guide for children with cancer and blood disorders has been developed, which is based on international guidelines and the national immunization schedule.
This guide has been developed with the help of the “City of Smile” Charitable Foundation, Department of Oncology of the Yerevan State Medical University, and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Team.
